On Monday in the afternoon, the draw for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 took place.
Real Madrid, the defending champions, will face Liverpool, a powerhouse in the Premier League, in a rematch of last season's championship game, according to Naijacrawl.
Manchester City, the Premier League champion, will play RB Leipzig, while Tottenham Hotspur will take on Serie A champions AC Milan.
Benfica and Frankfurt will square off, while Club Brugge will play Benfica.
Borussia Dortmund will face Chelsea, while Inter Milan have been paired with FC Porto.
French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain will clash with Bayern Munich.
The first legs of the Champions League round of 16 are scheduled for 14/15/21/22 February, with the second legs on 7/8/14/15 March.
However, speaking with Naijacrawl, Abubakar Ibrahim, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FC head coach, picked the teams that should progress from the Champions League round of 16 to the quarterfinal stage.
Ibrahim also admitted that this season’s Champions League is tougher than last term.
“The UEFA Champions League this season is tougher than last year because all the clubs in the group stages did very well this time around,” Ibrahim told Naijacrawl.
“They all played very good football compared to last season."
“However, this time around, following the Champions League round of 16 draws, there are some strong teams that should advance to the next stage [the quarterfinal] due to their outstanding performances in the group stage."
“The likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Napoli, Porto, Tottenham Hotspur, and Benfica,” he predicted.
