Former Chelsea defender David Luiz has picked out two players from Arsenal for praise.

Luiz, a Brazil international who also played for Arsenal, hailed the duo of Gabriel Magalhaes and Martin Odegaard.

The Brazilian is impressed with both players’ recent rise in stature under Mikel Arteta.

Luiz, in a chat with The Sun, hailed his 27-year-old compatriot, who is now regarded as one of the best defenders in the world.

From his central defense role, the Brazil international has scored five goals in 33 outings across competitions for Arsenal this season.

His contribution has helped the Gunners register 11 clean sheets so far this season and maintain a second position in the league.

“Gabriel has the power of a monster. He can score in every single match! He’s a powerful guy. I hope he continues this way with the help of [Arsenal manager Mikel] Arteta who gets the best out of him every day,” the former Brazil international said.
Speaking of Arsenal captain, Odegaard, Luiz said, “Martin has grown a lot and is now a world-class player. He’s an amazing person and he’s turned into a great leader.”

26-year-old attacking midfielder Odegaard became the captain at the Emirates owing to his commanding displays over the last few seasons following his arrival from Real Madrid.

The Norwegian has made nine goal contributions this season, three goals and six assists in 24 matches.
