Kevin De Bruyne, a midfielder for Manchester City, believes the Premier League champions must win the Champions League this season in order to "transform the perspective" of the club.
On Wednesday, City will travel to Spain to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
The Citizens would have a chance to win the trophy for the first time in their existence.
Pep Guardiola's team has already won numerous domestic trophies, but De Bruyne believes the Champions League will elevate the club to new heights.
“I think it would change the perspective from outside. The fact that we’ve been fighting for numerous years and getting to the latter stages means we’ve been doing really well.
“It’s a cup competition and the quality is very high, so it is very difficult to win, but in the end, if you look back at the way we performed, and I have performed over seven years, we have done really well.
At a news conference on Tuesday, "We have not won it, but winning it would change that little narrative,” De Bruyne told a news conference.
City won the first leg 4-3 at the Etihad Stadium and will face Liverpool in Paris if they eliminate Madrid.
