Didier Drogba of Chelsea and Sergio Aguero of Manchester City are the latest football legends to be admitted into the English Premier League (EPL) Hall of Fame today.

Apart from Drogba and Aguero, the EPL Hall of Fame also includes Vincent Kompany, Peter Schmeichel, Paul Scholes, and Ian Wright.

The six football legends will be formally honored at an event in London this evening, with Manchester United star Wayne Rooney and Arsenal legend Patrick Vierira as this year's inductees.

They were chosen by the Premier League Awards Panel and the public in an online vote.

The EPL's official website describes the Hall of Fame, which was established last year, as "the highest individual recognition bestowed on a player."

Reacting, Aguero said: “Entering the Hall of Fame makes me happy for myself and for my family. I just loved playing football here with Manchester City and the memories of winning the Premier League five times, including the most important goal of my career, to win that first one. ”
On his part, Drogba said: “It is a real honour for me to have been inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame. My years with Chelsea were so special to me, and I am incredibly proud of everything we won as a team. ”
Similarly, Scholes said: “It is a special feeling to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame along with so many fantastic players who have already been voted in and with the players who are being named today.”
