Cacereno player Carmelo Merenciano has hit out at Real Madrid star Eden Hazard for his underwhelming display during both teams’ Copa del Rey tie on Tuesday night.
Real Madrid narrowly beat the fourth-tier club to book their spot in the Copa del Rey last 16 of the competition.
A second-half goal from forward Rodrygo saw the La Liga champions eliminate Cacereno from the Copa del Rey.
But one of the main talking points from the clash on Tuesday was Hazard’s performance against the Spanish minnows.
The former Chelsea player failed to make an impression during his 67-minute outing against Cacereno.
Hazard completed the game without a shot and was unable to attempt any dribbles.
Speaking to Diario AS, Merenciano criticized Hazard, insisting that the 31-year-old didn’t care about the match.
According to him, the Belgian was totally unnoticed during the encounter at Prncipe Felipe.
He said, "Hazard?" It was like he didn’t care about the game. He didn’t want to take the ball, so he didn’t run. "He was totally unnoticed.”
Meanwhile, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has since defended Hazard, claiming it was "impossible" to play on the pitch.
