Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho allegedly threatened to oust John Terry and his defensive partner Gary Cahill from their positions at Stamford Bridge if they did not improve in practice.
Terry recalled his first practice of Mourinho's second tenure at the club after his appointment as manager in 2013.
Mourinho returned to Chelsea after his remarkable first tenure at Stamford Bridge, where he won two Premier League championships for the team between 2004 and 2007.
The Portuguese later helped the west London club win its third championship in 2015. Terry revealed what his former boss said to him at practice to Chelsea's official website.
The former captain of England said:
In the first training session, me and Gaz kept giving the ball away. He said that if we kept going on, he’d go and buy (Raphal) Varane and two other big defenders! "
Varane was one of the hottest defenders in Europe at the time, breaking through at Real Madrid as a promising youngster.
