For the second time in his career, Kylian Mbappé has set his sights on the FIFA World Cup championship.
Mbappé, who was a key player in helping France win their second world championship in 2018, wants to accomplish the feat four years from now.
The forward for Paris Saint-Germain has been on fire for Les Bleus, scoring five goals in as many games, including a brace against Poland in the round of 16.
The 23-year-old declared with absolute certainty that his team would win the World Cup in Qatar as a result of his goal-scoring prowess.
"My goal now is to win the World Cup." This is my only dream. "That's what I came here for," Mbappé said, as quoted by Football Tweet.
What's next for Mbappé?
Having reached the quarterfinals with France, Mbappé and his French teammates will face England or Senegal in their next assignment.
He has bagged five goals in four games and will look to add to his tally at the Mundial when the quarterfinals kick off.
Mbappe inspires France to quarterfinals
Kylian Mbappe set up a history-making goal for Olivier Giroud and then scored two himself as holders France eased into the quarterfinals of the World Cup with a 3-1 win over Poland on Sunday.
Giroud's opening goal a minute before half-time was his 52nd for his country, allowing him to pass Thierry Henry and become France's all-time record scorer.
Mbappe's lethal strike in the 74th minute killed off any prospect of a Poland comeback, and he netted again at the death to move to nine goals in just 11 World Cup appearances, the second-most for a French player at the tournament.
