Luis Rubiales, the president of the Spanish FA, decided against stepping down on Friday, five days after he kissed Jenni Hermoso, a striker for Spain, on the lips during the nation's World Cup celebrations.

At the RFEF Extraordinary General Assembly on Friday, Rubiales declared that he would "fight to the bitter end."

In a defiant speech, the 46-year-old refused to step down and spoke of "fake feminism" and "unjust" campaigns.

If you recall, Hermoso had expressed that she "did not enjoy it" in the wake of the incident and later demanded that Rubiales' actions "not go unpunished."

The incident happened as Rubiales was praising Hermoso for her role in last Sunday's FIFA Women's World Cup final victory over England, which ended 1-0. The match took place in Sydney.

Rubiales was said to be stepping down on Friday (today), and Pedro Rocha would take over as the Federation's new president.

He ferociously asserted, however, that he would not be resigning.
