Manchester defender, Alvaro Fernandez has said that newly signed midfielder, Mason Mount did not stand out for him when the England international was at Chelsea.
Fernandez said he has been surprised by Mount’s display and character since he moved to Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old Mount swapped Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford earlier in the summer in a deal worth £60m.
He became Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer.
The Chelsea academy product is currently with Manchester United in the United States where they are getting prepared for the upcoming season.
Fernandez, who is also on the pre-season tour after spending last season on loan at Preston, told MUTV, “Mason has surprised me because he was not a player that stood out to me before when watching matches.
“He is very good.
“Mason is a really great player, but on the pitch, he has an incredible character.”
