Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani responded to football legend John Obi Mikel's retirement from the sport.

Mikel Obi's 35-year-old retirement from football was deemed premature by Sani.

The former Super Eagles captain, however, received his best wishes for the future.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Wednesday, Sani wrote: “It’s too early for Mikel Obi to retire from professional football at 35." However, I wish him all the best. "

Remember that on Tuesday, Mikel Obi announced his retirement from football in a post on his Instagram page.

After a productive career playing for both clubs and the Nigerian national team, the 35-year-old midfielder from Nigeria retired.
