Gareth Southgate, the manager of England, has been praised as one of the best coaches in England's history by head coach of Germany Hansi Flick.
Flick downplayed England's current difficulties as well, referring to Southgate's team as one of the best in the world.
After the Three Lions' 1-0 loss to Italy in the Nations League match last Friday night, Southgate, who led the team to the final of Euro 2020 and the semi-final of the 2018 World Cup, was jeered by visiting fans at the San Siro.
When asked about Southgate's difficulties, Flick responded, "The Premier League is the best league in the world and the England squad is excellent too," at his pre-match press conference on Sunday ahead of Germany's Nations League match against England on Monday night at Wembley Stadium.
There was a time when the team just wasn't as fresh, especially in the summer after a long season.
If things don’t go well, coaches are quickly criticised. Despite this, Gareth Southgate is one of the most successful coaches in England’s history and they have a great team. We need a top performance [on Monday night] to survive.
Flick added: “They [England] are one of the best teams in the world." For me, they are definitely one of the best teams.
