Arsenal legend Paul Merson has made a fresh Premier League title prediction and warned striker Gabriel Jesus he would need to be patient as he doesn’t get into Mikel Arteta’s team on his current form.
Arsenal moved eight points clear of second-place Manchester City after beating Crystal Palace 4-1 over the weekend. But Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.
And Merson believes Arsenal’s form over the past few weeks has been ‘unreal’ and has backed the Gunners to win the title ahead of Manchester City.
“Arsenal’s destiny will be decided when the TV fixtures get released in terms of who plays first on a weekend,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I say that because if Arsenal plays first, they could go eleven points clear at the top."
“I know Manchester City would have two games in hand, but it is a huge swing. Eleven points is massive; you can’t make any mistakes. The pressure can get to you. It is a really big advantage to be able to play your game without distractions.
“I see Arsenal winning it from here." "The way they’re dismantling lesser teams is unreal.”
Merson added, “Gabriel Jesus doesn’t play at the moment for me. He has been out a long time. Trossard has come in and hit the ground running.
“Jesus is an unbelievable player to have on the bench; he has got to be patient.”
