The Wilfred Ndidi injury saga, which saw the Leicester City star leave training camp ahead of an international friendly with Algeria, has been clarified by Nigeria's head coach, Jose Peseiro.
There have been rumors that Ndidi left because he was unable to play in midfield, which was his preferred position.
Peseiro insisted that the 25-year-old is dealing with a hamstring issue in a video that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) shared on social media.
Because of our relationship with Leicester City, their fitness coach informed our fitness coach that Ndidi had voiced his concerns during the previous game (against Tottenham Hotspur).
"When Ndidi arrived, he performed some light, condition-based training, but he continued to feel something in his hamstring."
“After yesterday’s session, I thought it was better not to use him." "I don’t want to go use a player in a friendly match only to see him sustain more injury,” Peseiro said.
