Sheffield United faces a two-point deduction at the onset of their next English Football League (EFL) season due to payment defaults to other clubs during the 2022/2023 season, when they were promoted from the Championship.

The EFL announced this penalty following an independent Disciplinary Commission (IDC) decision.
Additionally, the club will have a further two points suspended, which will come into effect if they fail to fulfill payments to other clubs.
Sheffield United has decided not to contest the sanction and has agreed to cover the EFL's costs totaling £310,455.
