Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro hailed Argentina after La Albiceleste claimed their first World Cup title in 36 years on Sunday night.

Lionel Scaloni’s side defeated France 4-2 on penalties in a thrilling final contest at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

The game ended in a 3-3 draw after 120 minutes of breathtaking football action.

“Congratulations Argentina on winning your third World Cup!

“It was an exciting game; what an incredible match! You deserve every minute of this title, well done!” Peseiro wrote on his Twitter handle.

Argentina started the competition on a disappointing note, going down to a shocking 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia.

The South Americans, however, recovered from that setback and won all their remaining games in the competition.

The South Americans also swept the individual awards at Qatar 2022.

Talismanic forward, Lionel Messi was named Best Player of the competition, Emiliano Martinez scooped the Best Goalkeeper prize, while young midfielder, Enzo Fernandes picked the Best Young Player of the competition award.
