Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has told Chelsea to bring Romelu Lukaku back from loan at Inter Milan.
The former Premier League defender is convinced the Belgian can be the answer to the Blues’ goal-scoring problems and help Graham Potter’s side assume their rightful position in the Premier League.
Lukaku scored on Wednesday night to help Inter Milan beat FC Porto 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 match at San Siro.
Lukaku also scored against Udinese at the weekend but started the game against Porto on the bench, with Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta telling reporters that the Belgian was "carrying 103 kg on his shoulders" and was not yet 100 percent match fit.
But Ferdinand, a former England international, was stunned by Lukaku’s weight and revealed that he played at 86 kilos.
“I played at 86 kilos, and I’m about 96 now,” he said on BT Sport.
“If he can get back [to Chelsea] fit again, this guy has proven he is a goalscorer, simple as that.
“I think the new manager gives him a chance." I think he’s got no-one in there that he obviously trusts at the moment. "This guy is just a goal machine; he just knows how to score.”
