Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi has completed a move to Libyan powerhouse Al Hilal Benghazi, sealing a short-term contract with the club.
Ajayi, a key member of Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles squad that clinched a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, arrives at Al Hilal on a free transfer after parting ways with Egyptian side Smouha SC.
The 28-year-old forward made an impact at Smouha, netting four goals in just six league appearances before his exit. However, his most successful spell came at Egyptian giants Al Ahly, where he won four league titles and lifted the prestigious CAF Champions League trophy twice.
Due to ongoing political unrest in Libya, Al Hilal and their fierce rivals Al Merrikh are currently competing in the Mauritanian League.
Ajayi’s arrival is expected to bolster Al Hilal’s attacking options as they push for success in the ongoing campaign. Stay tuned for more updates on his performance at his new club!
