Former Premier League striker, Wayne Rooney has named Manchester City as probably the best football team of all time.

Rooney said this while suggesting it would be difficult for his former club Manchester United, who finished third in the Premier League last season, to win the title because they are competing with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Manchester City won the FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League in a single season, being the second club to achieve the historic feat after Manchester United.

Manchester United is also returning to the Champions League and also lifted the Carabao Cup to end their six-year trophy drought.

Rooney said he is very impressed by Ten Hag’s impact but added that Manchester City poses a very big challenge to the success of their neighbours.

“There were huge improvements [at Manchester United]. Some really good signings and some good experienced players who helped the team.
“They’re competing with one of the best teams, probably, of all time in Manchester City. United are trying to get back challenging for the league title and I do believe they’re on the right path. There is a lot of work to be done but they are taking the right steps to do it.”
