Rio Ferdinand, a former defender for Manchester United, has claimed that Arsenal may be "the real deal" in the Premier League title race this year.
On Sunday at Stamford Bridge, the Gunners defeated Chelsea 1-0.
The game's lone goal was converted by Gabriel Magalhaes from a corner kick by Bukayo Saka in the second half.
Arsenal's victory saw it retake the top spot from Manchester City, which had defeated Fulham 2-1 the day before.
After the game, Ferdinand said, "I've seen something with this Arsenal team," in a statement to BT Sport.
“Is this team the real deal?" There’s something there, togetherness; you can smell it in this team. the way they celebrate. There’s an authority on how Arsenal are playing under this man, Mikel Arteta.
“How many times did we look at each other when a phase of play happened, and it was all because of the way that Arsenal was making them move on the pitch?" a real top performance. "These types of games are hard, and they made it look as easy as you can make it.”
