Norway manager Stale Solbakken has slammed former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, saying that the Frenchman has been brainwashed by FIFA.

This is after the Frenchman recently said that Germany’s World Cup protest against alleged human rights issues in Qatar is responsible for their early exit.

According to Solbakken, the Arsenal legend has been "brainwashed" by FIFA, where he has been working since leaving managerial duties at the Emirates.

The 73-year-old had suggested that Germany’s crashing out in the group stages of the World Cup in Qatar was largely the result of political protest prior to their defeat against Japan.

Speaking to Norwegian channel TV 2, Solbakken said: “[Wenger] has somehow been brainwashed and is now making the most stupid statements.

“It’s scary with all the people we’ve looked up to in the football world for years."

“There’s a polarization going on right now, and I’m afraid it’s going to get worse.”
