The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been ordered to end its ongoing nationwide strike by the Nigerian national industrial court (NICN).

Since February 14, ASUU has been on strike to raise awareness of its demands, which include increased funding for universities and a review of lecturers' pay among other things.

ASUU meetings with the federal government have frequently come to an impasse.

As a result, the strike was contested in court by the federal government.

James Igwe, the government's attorney, asked the court for an interlocutory injunction to stop ASUU from continuing the strike while the court considered the substantive lawsuit.
