The University of Ilorin, located in Kwara State, has taken strict disciplinary action by expelling 14 students who were found guilty of misconduct and involvement in examination malpractices.



The announcement came through a statement from the university's Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, on a Monday.

In a weekly bulletin released by the Information Unit of the University’s Directorate of Corporate Affairs, the names of nine expelled students were published. The decision to expel these students received approval from the Vice Chancellor, following the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 219th meeting held on January 10 and 11, 2024.


Among those expelled were seven final-year students from various departments, along with two students from the 300 and 100 levels, respectively. The bulletin provided details on the expelled students, including names and matriculation numbers.


Lateef Lukman Olayemi, a 500-level Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries student with Matric No:17/10AB029, Kuranga Abdulmuiz Olalekan, a 500-level Agriculture/Agricultural Extension and Rural Development student with Matric No:17/10AC462, and Ogundijo Abdulmalik Akinkunmi, a final-year student of CIS/Library and Information Science department with Matric No:20/52HJ070 were among those expelled.


Other expelled students included Ashekun Oladiji Quadri, a final-year student in the department of CIS/Telecommunication Science, Musa Mohammed Asus from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology/Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Ahmed Saddam Opeyemi from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, and Ayinla Jamiu Olaitan from the Faculty of Life Science, a 400-level student of the department of Zoology.


Additionally, Eqwudah Lucky Ojonumba, from the Faculty of Education, department of Education/Adult and Primary Education Studies, and Adebisi Janet Bosede, a 100-level student from the Faculty of Arts, Linguistics, and Nigerian Languages, were also among those expelled.


The university's firm stance on maintaining academic integrity and ethical conduct underscores the importance of upholding a high standard of behavior within its student body.
