Hudson Meek, known for his role in the 2017 film Baby Driver and as the voice of Bada in the preschool series Badanamu Stories, has passed away at 16 after a fatal accident involving a moving vehicle.
The incident occurred on December 19 in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. According to the Jefferson County coroner’s office, Meek fell from a moving car and sustained severe blunt force injuries. He was rushed to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital but succumbed to his injuries two days later. The Vestavia Hills Police Department has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
In a heartfelt statement posted on his Instagram page, Meek’s family announced his passing:
“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
A Life Full of Achievements
Hudson Meek was remembered as a talented actor, a beloved son, and a friend to many. His most notable role was playing the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character in Baby Driver. He had several other projects set for release in 2025.
Beyond acting, Hudson was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, where he played football for the Vestavia Hills Rebel team. He was an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the honor choir, and his church, Dawson Memorial Baptist.
Hudson’s passions extended beyond the screen and the classroom. He loved sports, traveling, and outdoor adventures. By 13, he had already achieved open water and advanced scuba diving certifications. He had visited all 50 U.S. states and aspired to explore all seven continents.
His family shared:
“Hudson was reflective and thoughtful, yet tenacious when he set his mind to something. His personality was one of a kind — confident, convicted, spontaneous, and quick-witted. He was happiest making others laugh.”
Legacy and Organ Donation
Hudson’s family revealed that he was an organ donor, offering comfort in knowing he would continue to impact lives even after his passing.
Hudson is survived by his parents, Derek and Lani Meek, his older brother Tucker, and an extended family of grandmothers, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
