American musician Rod Wave has been taken into custody for allegedly possessing a firearm in Manatee County, Florida.
Reports indicate that the arrest occurred on Wednesday.
Following the arrest, the St. Petersburg Police Department held a press conference where they claimed that Rod Wave was linked to a gang-related shooting incident outside Sonic Sports Bar in St. Petersburg, which resulted in injuries to four bystanders. The shooting occurred on Sunday, March 31.
St. Petersburg Police Chief Mike Kovacsev asserted that three individuals involved in the shooting, identified as Christopher Atkins, Keith Westby, and Kevontre Wesby, have alleged connections to the Young Gangsters gang. Additionally, Kovacsev stated that two more suspects are in the process of being apprehended.
Rod Wave's legal representatives, Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin, have refuted the allegations, asserting that the rapper was detained without evidence of any wrongdoing.
