Olubankole Wellington, alias Banky W, a Nigerian singer, has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a message on his official Twitter profile, Banky W also announced that he will run for the Eti-Osa federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2023 general elections.

Banky W, who campaigned for the same post in 2019 under the Modern Democratic Party but lost, described how he has been active in community service and strived to be part of the solution to his residents' difficulties.

Nigerians, according to the father of one, can no longer accept candidates who believe they are entitled to their place in government.

He added that the Nigerian people require individuals who would earn and value their right to serve. We also require innovation and reform as a country.

"When enough of us with comparable thoughts, who have the greatest interests of the nation at heart are in office," he continued, the latter will happen.

I'll be returning to the House of Representatives to represent Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in Lagos State, this time on the Peoples Democratic Party's platform (PDP).

"While some may disagree with or misunderstand my decision to run or my platform of choice, I've learned that we must interact with Nigeria where it is, not where we wish it to be." We can no longer be satisfied.
