Veteran rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, has spoken out in defense of Afrobeats star Davido following criticism over his recent comments on the Nigerian economy.
In a podcast interview, Davido warned Americans against relocating to Africa, particularly Nigeria, citing the country's economic struggles as being in "shambles." His remarks sparked widespread backlash online.
Reacting via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Ruggedman supported Davido's statement, emphasizing that it reflects the harsh realities Nigerians face daily. He called on the government to prioritize fixing the economy to prevent such criticisms in the future.
Ruggedman wrote, "Davido has said what he said. Moving forward, the government should fix Nigeria so nobody will say such again. All this barking all over the place is not fixing the nation. The hardship is too much."
The rapper’s message underscores the growing frustration among Nigerians over the country's economic challenges and calls for action rather than criticism.
