Burna Boy, a Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, has implied that despite making his home nation proud "every chance" he gets, Nigerians do not appreciate him enough.
He alleged that rather than appreciating his priceless musical contributions to Nigeria, Nigerians spread rumors that his mother was a dancer for the late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti, and that impotence may be the reason he did not have a baby mama like most of his contemporaries due to his lack of a womb.
Burna Boy, whose maternal grandfather, Benson Idonije, was Fela Kuti’s first manager, also lashed out at Nigerians for speculating that the June 8, 2022, incident where his police escorts allegedly shot at one Ms. Steph Briella, her partner, and her best friend at Club Cubana, Victoria Island, Lagos, was because he wanted to snatch her from her partner.
The self-styled “African Giant” said this on “Thanks”, a J. Cole feature from his seventh studio album, “I Told Them,” which was released on Thursday night.
He sings: “Is this the m*ing thanks I get for making my people proud, every chance I get?
“It’s okay, I get it. This Naija has no love.
“They say my mama dances for Fela.
“They say I don't get it, baby mama.
“They say I shoot people for Cubana because I want collect women...
Is this the m***ing thanks I get? For making my people proud, every chance I get.”
