In a recent interview on Channels TV, renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, clarified that he has never had any communication or interaction with Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
Falana emphasized that not only has he never met the crossdresser, but none of his family members have had any involvement with Bobrisky.
Falana shared that Bobrisky had once reached out to his son, Folarin (Falz), seeking financial assistance while in prison, which Falz declined. According to Falana, Bobrisky asked Falz for a sum of N3 million to secure a VIP section in prison, to which Falz responded by questioning whether this request was authorized by the prison authorities. When the answer was negative, Falz ended the conversation, refusing to be involved in any form of bribery.
Falana also addressed defamatory statements made by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, who had wrongly implicated him in a bribery scandal involving Bobrisky. Falana firmly denied these accusations, stating that neither he nor his son has ever engaged in such activities. Despite the false allegations, Falana has chosen not to pursue criminal charges, citing his commitment to defending freedom of expression in West Africa. However, he plans to file a civil lawsuit to restore the integrity of both his name and his son's.
This public clarification comes amidst the growing controversy over unverified claims circulating on social media, sparking debates about accountability and defamation.
