Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian music sensation Mohbad, has raised the alarm over threats to her life and that of her one-year-old son, Liam.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Omowunmi revealed that she receives death threats almost daily. She also accused her late husband’s former boss, Naira Marley, and his associates of attacking her, further alleging that Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, is making moves to take control of the late singer’s properties.
“We No Longer Feel Safe” – Omowunmi Speaks Out
Expressing her distress, Omowunmi said, “We no longer feel safe. I receive death threats in my DMs almost every day. It has reached a point where I must either speak up or suffer in silence.”
She also accused Naira Marley and his associates of attacking her, while pointing fingers at her father-in-law for attempting to control Mohbad’s estate. “My father-in-law was the one who officiated our marriage. He was so happy then, but now he calls our son a bastard. He claims Liam has bow legs, saying such doesn’t exist in their family. He even said my husband once tried to throw our baby into the Third Mainland Bridge,” she lamented.
Controversy Surrounding Mohbad’s Death
Mohbad tragically passed away in September 2023 under suspicious circumstances after his controversial exit from Naira Marley’s Marlian Music. His departure stemmed from the label’s alleged failure to uphold their contract agreement.
Following his demise, fingers were pointed at Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry. A viral video surfaced showing the duo assaulting Mohbad before his untimely death, intensifying public suspicion.
On October 6, 2023, Naira Marley and Sam Larry were arraigned and remanded over their alleged involvement in the events leading to the singer’s death. However, they later secured bail after pleading not guilty.
Ongoing Struggle for Justice
Omowunmi’s latest revelations reignite concerns surrounding Mohbad’s tragic passing. As she fights to protect herself and her son, many fans and well-wishers continue to demand justice for the late singer.
