Rapper PnB Rock reportedly passed away from wounds he received in a shooting on Monday, September 12 in Los Angeles.
He was 30 years old.
The Philadelphia-born musician, who is best known for his 2016 single "Selfish," was shot yesterday around 1 pm at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Rock, real name Rakim Allen, had visited the restaurant with his girlfriend, who had shared a location-tagged Instagram post that has since been deleted.
A suspect "brandished a firearm inside the restaurant and demanded items from the victim," according to Los Angeles police Captain Lelly Muniz. It's thought that Allen was targeted because of his jewelry.
The victim was shot by the suspect, who then fled the scene by using a side door and a getaway vehicle, according to Muniz. Investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department are reportedly looking at security footage taken inside the eatery to identify the shooter and determine whether they made their getaway on foot or in a car.
Allen was brought to a nearby hospital at 1.59 pm, where doctors declared him dead.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1991, Allen released his debut mixtape, ‘Real N**** Bangaz', in 2014. He signed a record label with Atlantic Records in 2015, releasing his third mixtape, "RnB3".
In 2016, Allen released his single "Selfish." The track peaked at 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. He featured on YFN Lucci‘s 2017 song ‘Everyday We Lit’, landing at Number 33 on the same chart.
