A Nasarawa State High Court on Monday ordered the remand of Timilehin Ajayi at the Lafia Custodial Centre over the alleged murder of his 24-year-old girlfriend, Salome Enejo.

Ajayi, who is facing charges of culpable homicide, appeared before Justice Simon Aboki at the High Court of Justice, Lafia.

According to the prosecution, led by State Counsel Stanley Ifeanyi, Ajayi allegedly killed Enejo, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The prosecution cited Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria, which prescribes the death penalty for such offences.

Ajayi pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In his ruling, Justice Aboki ordered Ajayi's remand at the Lafia Custodial Centre and set the next hearing date for March 17, 2025. He emphasized the importance of giving the case an expedited hearing due to its gravity and sensitivity.

Stay tuned for updates as this high-profile case unfolds.
