Nigerian singer Skiibii has raised serious concerns with the modern generation’s normalization of social vices and immorality.
The "Baddest Boy" crooner noted with disapproval that the current generation is using casual language and name changes to gloss over criminal and immoral activities.
In particular, Skiibii pointed out how the term "hookup" has become popular slang to talk about prostitution. Not only that, he also highlighted how engaging in diabolic practices using spiritual items known as juju is now casually referred to as "Kayanmata." Additionally, he drew attention to how people dismiss bad character with an offhand phrase such as "mood swing."
Skiibii’s comments reflect a widespread trend in our society, where we have become desensitized to the idea of wrongdoing. This can have serious consequences, and everyone should be aware of the dangers of such behavior and take steps to prevent its perpetuation.
Unfortunately, because we have built up a culture of normalizing illegal and immoral practices through language, it further reinforces people’s lack of awareness about the issues. People may not realize the seriousness of their actions, and consequently, social vices and immorality become condoned by our words.
Taking to Twitter, Skiibii wrote, “Prostitution is now called hookup, and juju is now called kayamata." Bad character is now called "mood swing." While long throat is now called ‘cravings’ lmao”
