Adebisi Edionseri, the renowned Ogun State socialite and philanthropist, affectionately known as "Cash Madam," was laid to rest in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday.
The funeral service was attended by numerous dignitaries, family members, and admirers who gathered to pay tribute to her remarkable life and legacy.
Among the notable attendees were Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and his predecessor, Ibikunle Amosun, who led the procession of distinguished guests. Other prominent figures included former Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Isola; former Ogun State Deputy Governor, Salimot Badru; the state’s Chief Judge, Olatokunbo Olopade; and Adejoke Bello, Chairperson of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives.
Edionseri, who passed away at the age of 89 after a brief illness, was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites at her residence in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta. Her burial took place just weeks before her 90th birthday, a milestone she had been eagerly preparing for.
Governor Abiodun, deeply saddened by her passing, recalled his last encounter with Edionseri at a wedding on January 2, where she was in high spirits. He shared that she had spoken fondly of her upcoming birthday and discussed her plans for a celebratory event, including the involvement of the Ogun State government.
Edionseri’s death has left a significant void in the Ogun State community, but her lasting impact and charitable works will forever be remembered.
