After four years of litigation, Tyrese Haspil, the former executive assistant of tech CEO Fahim Saleh, was found guilty on Monday of murdering his boss in 2020.

The verdict, announced by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, revealed the gruesome details of the crime, including decapitation and dismemberment.

Prosecutors presented evidence that Haspil, 25, killed Saleh, 33, to prevent him from discovering that he had embezzled approximately $400,000 from the CEO of Gokada, a Nigerian motorcycle ride-hailing company.

The jury convicted Haspil of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree grand larceny, second-degree burglary, and other charges.

"Tyrese Haspil tragically cut Mr. Saleh’s life short – a man who came from a close-knit immigrant family and followed his passions to become a successful entrepreneur," said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. "I hope the accountability delivered by today’s verdict can provide a measure of comfort to Mr. Saleh’s loved ones as they continue to mourn his loss."
