Reports have surfaced revealing that Abby Hensel, one half of America's most famous conjoined twins, secretly tied the knot three years ago.
According to public records obtained by news outlet TODAY, Abby Hensel, aged 34 and hailing from Minnesota, married nurse and army veteran Josh Bowling in 2021.
Abby and Brittany Hensel gained widespread recognition after starring in their own reality show on TLC. Born in 1990, the twins share two heads, two hearts, and two sets of lungs, while controlling their respective halves of the body with remarkable coordination. Despite their unique physical condition, they have achieved remarkable feats such as driving and both obtaining education degrees from university.
The news of Abby's marriage came to light through a celebratory clip shared on the TikTok account @abbyandbrittanyhensel, with a corresponding photo posted by the Facebook account Britt And Abby. The wedding ceremony in 2021 featured Abby in a lace-trimmed sleeveless wedding dress and Josh in a grey suit. Presently, both Abby and Brittany work as fifth-grade teachers in their home state of Minnesota, where they were raised by a nurse and a carpenter parent.
As dicephalic parapagus twins, Abby and Brittany are fused side-by-side with two heads. Their unique anatomy includes two spines fused at the pelvis, two hearts, two esophagi, two stomachs, three kidneys, two gallbladders, four lungs (with two joined), a liver, one ribcage, a shared circulatory system, and partially shared nervous systems. Below the waist, all organs, including reproductive organs, are shared.
Despite the challenges they have faced, including the removal of a partly-formed third arm at the age of 12 and corrective surgery to address spine curvature and aid breathing, Abby and Brittany Hensel continue to inspire others with their resilience and achievements.
