Former President Donald Trump is pushing back against what he calls 'baseless accusations' emerging from the latest batch of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
The documents, which include emails from alleged Epstein victim Sarah Ransome, claim that Trump had sexual relations with a friend of hers at Epstein's Manhattan townhouse.
In a statement on Monday, Trump's spokesman Steven Cheung dismissed the accusations, stating, 'These baseless accusations have been fully retracted because they are simply false and have no merit.' The response comes after the court published a new set of files, following the unsealing of hundreds of documents last week.
Ransome, who made similar claims about former President Bill Clinton and billionaire Richard Branson in 2016, later retracted her statements and admitted to 'inventing' the claim that she had tapes to support her allegations.
While Trump's name reemerged in the latest document release, his campaign had previously asserted that an earlier release of documents related to Epstein had 'thoroughly debunked' claims of an inappropriate relationship with the convicted financier.
Ransome's 2016 claims include alleging that Trump had sexual relations with 'many girls,' mentioning an unidentified friend who was purportedly one of the individuals involved. It's worth noting that Trump and Epstein were friends in the 1990s, with Trump acknowledging their association in public statements. However, Trump has not been accused of any crimes or wrongdoing in connection to the Epstein case.
The documents in question are part of former alleged Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre's lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell, who has been convicted of trafficking underage girls on behalf of Epstein. Another document from the suit reveals former Epstein butler Juan Alessi stating that he had dinner with Trump at Epstein's mansion in Palm Beach, located near Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence. However, when asked if Trump ever received massages during his visits, Alessi responded with a 'no.'
