The Executive Chairman of Umunnochi local government area of Abia State, Sunday Afurobi has raised alarm over a trending resignation letter claimed to have been issued by him.

Afurobi was weekend rumoured to have quit his job as the local government chairman of Umunnochi and a letter he purportedly addressed to Governor Alex Otti was also attached.

The resignation letter, which had Sunday Afurobi’s forged signature, caused confusion among the staff of the local government and supporters of the Chairman in Umunnochi and Abia at large.

But clearing the air, the Umunnochi LGA Chairman described the trending resignation letter as a fake material circulated by his detractors, maintaining that he did not resign but was still in charge of the Council.

Afurobi explained that “my lawyers and security agencies are currently reviewing the disturbing situation”.

He further urged the people of Umunnochi to ignore the fake news, remain calm and maintain their support for Governor Alex Otti.
