Barely four months that he claimed that defamation is not a crime, lawyer and a right activist, Deji Adeyanju has apologised and retracted his defamatory statement against Umar Damagun, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Sen.
Samuel Anyanwu, the Acting National Secretary of PDP.
It will be recalled that the duo had threatened to sue Adeyanju over allegations bordering on defamation.
Messrs Damagun and Anyanwu, through their counsel, Johnson Usman, SAN, asked Adeyanju to retract the statements and tender apology in national dailies and other social media platforms to avert the looming legal tussle.
On Friday, Adeyanju, through his lawyer, one Zainab Otega, retracted his earlier statement and apologized to the two PDP chieftains.
Deji Adeyanju has always encouraged his clients like Very Dark Man not to apologise or retract their defamatory statement because according to him, defamation is not a crime.
The question now is that, what changed?
