An explosive device was detonated at the Action People’s Party (APP) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, causing significant damage.

The explosion, which occurred at midnight, shattered the glass on a nearby window.

In response, the Rivers State Police Command has deployed two security vehicles and personnel to the new GRA area where the incident took place. Despite the explosion, routine activities in the vicinity are reportedly continuing smoothly.

APP, a relatively new party in Rivers State, recently gained attention by securing a prominent building in Port Harcourt to serve as its secretariat. There are speculations that the party might be supported by disgruntled members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) (those loyal to the governor) who are dissatisfied with the current management of their party's affairs in the state.

The incident has raised questions about the motives behind the recent surge in APP's visibility. Neither the party nor the police have yet commented on the explosion.
