Operatives of the Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority, KASSAROTA, Malumfashi Division, have successfully apprehended a suspected notorious motorcycle thief.

A statement issued by the authority’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Marwana Kofar Sauri, revealed that the suspect was arrested around 5:00 pm on Saturday, 15th March 2025, during a routine patrol by KASSAROTA operatives in Malumfashi, under the leadership of Aminu Sani Shargalle.

Security personnel had reportedly been tracking the suspect from Zaria as he made his way through Kano to Malumfashi, attempting to transport the stolen motorcycle.

Upon his arrival in Malumfashi, vigilant KASSAROTA officers stopped him for inspection and discovered that the motorcycle bore a fake registration number and did not belong to him.

Following further investigation, the suspect was fined for using a fake number plate and was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force. It was later confirmed that the motorcycle had indeed been stolen.

The Director General of KASSAROTA in Katsina State, Major Garba Yahaya Rimi (retd.), commended the dedication and vigilance of the KASSAROTA personnel for their efforts in apprehending the suspect and handing him over to the appropriate authorities.

He also urged the public to desist from riding or driving vehicles without valid registration numbers or with fake number plates. Additionally, he called on citizens to continue supporting the Authority in its mission to enforce road safety regulations and ensure compliance with vehicle registration laws in Katsina State.
