A source familiar with the incident, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that Mrakpor's remains were found stripped and showing signs of brutal torture. "She was found dead and fully stripped with severe wounds around 7.30 pm Thursday. I think she was battered to death," the source said.

Mrakpor, who had served as a member representing the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, was kidnapped two days prior in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.
