China Development Bank (CDB) has approved the first tranche of a $255 million loan to support Nigeria’s ambitious Kaduna-Kano railway project.
The announcement was made in a statement released by CDB on Tuesday.
The loan will play a pivotal role in advancing the construction of the 203-kilometer railway, a key transportation initiative aimed at connecting Kaduna and Kano directly by rail. This project is part of the cooperation deliverables outlined during the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in 2023.
CDB expressed confidence in the steady progress of the railway’s development so far. The bank also emphasized its commitment to working closely with Nigerian partners to ensure the smooth disbursement of subsequent loan installments and efficient post-loan management.
Once completed, the Kaduna-Kano railway is expected to revolutionize transportation in Northern Nigeria, providing faster, safer, and more reliable travel options for commuters and boosting regional economic activities.
Stay tuned for updates on this transformative infrastructure project as it progresses toward completion!
