The New Nigeria Peoples Party's (NNPP) Forum of State Chairmen has expressed concern over what it has called the illegal National Working Committee of the party's desperate attempts to amend the party's constitution for the third time in six months.

According to the Forum, the most recent strategy was intended to reduce the number of relevant articles in the party's constitution.

owing to his unwavering stance against allowing injustice to fester within the party, the BoT Chairman's authority.

The group claims that the National Working Committee of the party has compromised the positions, integrity, and vision upon which the party was founded, demonstrating that the NWC is no longer capable of leading the party to success.

The Forum of State Chairmen of the NNPP called on the party's founder and chairman of the board of trustees, Chief Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, to cause the outright revocation of the Memorandum of Understanding he entered into with those desperadoes posing as Democrats in a statement released on Sunday by Dada Olayinka Olabode, the forum's spokeswoman.

The statement also claimed that Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso, the party's presidential candidate in the recently concluded February 25 presidential election, was responsible for the illegal assault on the party and its unwavering leaders.

According to the forum, “Our attention has been drawn to the desperate moves being made by the illegal National Working Committee of our party to amend, for the 3rd time in 6 months, the constitution of our party.
“The impunity-driven National Working Committee will stop at nothing in her continuing act of lawlessness, breach of the constitution, and obvious attempt at hijacking the party by whatever illegal means available. The latest plan is aimed at deleting relevant articles in the constitution where the powers of the BoT Chairman would be whittled down.
“This latest desperation, of which we are not unaware, is a result of the uncompromising stand taken by the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees never to allow injustice to take root in our party.
“Having surreptitiously, illegally, and unconstitutionally doctored the constitution twice within 5 months in an attempt to hijack the party from the Founder, they have, again, realized they cannot achieve their aims without deleting articles where the constitution donated legal powers to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees to call to order any member or organ of the party whose action is at variance to the norms, spirit, and letters of the NNPP constitution.
“The Forum of State Chairmen passionately and unapologetically wishes to call on our Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, to, without any further reconsideration, cause outright revocation of the Memorandum of Understanding he entered into with these desperadoes masquerading as Democrats.
“We also wish to let the world know that we are totally throwing our support behind the convocation of the emergency meeting of the party scheduled for August 29, 2023, at the Rockview Hotel, Lagos, as convened by the Founder,” part of the statement read.
