The Osun State Police Command has apprehended Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe for allegedly making threatening remarks towards the Igbo community residing in Yoruba land, the southwestern region of Nigeria.
The arrest was made following Adekusibe's social media post, which called for violence and the expulsion of Southeasters from the area.
The Osun State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin, confirmed the arrest and emphasized that the tweet violated the social media policy on hate speech.
According to a statement issued on Friday by SP Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin, the Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect, Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe, had used his Twitter handle to incite violence and advocate for the killing of Igbos residing in Yoruba land. The statement further highlighted that Adekusibe's tweet was in clear violation of the social media policy on hate speech, leading to his arrest on Thursday.
