In a startling development, Nigerian investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo has been reportedly arrested by the Nigerian Army.



This was disclosed in a statement released by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ).

According to the FIJ, a platfrom owns by Fisayo, the founder has been held for three days by the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt. The organization, which he founded, expressed deep concern over his detention.

The statement reads, "The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt has been detaining our founder, Fisayo Soyombo, for three days running."

The arrest has sparked outrage among advocates of press freedom, who emphasize that journalism is not a crime.
