In a shocking turn of events, the Nasarawa State Police Command's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has apprehended a 32-year-old man, Timileyin Ajayi, for the gruesome murder of his alleged girlfriend, 24-year-old Salome Eleojo Adaidu.
Salome, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja, met her tragic end during a visit to Timileyin's residence in Papalana, New Karshi, located in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
According to Channels TV, the horrific incident unfolded when Salome visited Timileyin’s home. On January 12, Timileyin was caught red-handed by a mob while attempting to dispose of Salome’s dismembered remains. Reports reveal that he had brutally butchered her body into over 50 pieces, storing them in several polythene bags. He was apprehended while trying to discard Salome’s severed head.
Mob justice ensued before Timileyin was handed over to law enforcement. At the Nasarawa State Police Command headquarters in Lafia, the suspect, visibly weak and injured from the mob beating, was presented alongside the machetes and knives allegedly used in the crime. During interrogation, Timileyin reportedly confessed to the heinous act.
Salome’s family has been left shattered by the devastating loss. Her uncle, Samson Adaji Adaidu, spoke out about the unimaginable cruelty, stating, “He destroyed our daughter. He didn’t just kill her—he dismembered her into more than 50 pieces. It looked as if he was preparing the body for consumption, storing her remains in six polythene bags.”
This tragic incident has sparked outrage and grief, with many calling for swift justice for Salome. As investigations continue, the public awaits the next steps in ensuring that those responsible for such brutality are held accountable.
This heart-wrenching story serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in modern relationships and the need for vigilance in safeguarding loved ones.
