Aviation expert and youth activist Comrade Isaac Balami has left the Labour Party (LP) and returned to his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Balami, who served as the National Deputy Campaign Manager for Obi/Datti in the 2023 presidential election, announced a media parley in Abuja on Wednesday.

Explaining his decision, Balami recalled leaving the APC ahead of the last presidential elections due to concerns over the Muslim-Muslim ticket. However, after witnessing the first year of President Bola Tinubu's administration, he felt it was only reasonable to reassess his position.

Balami highlighted his initial opposition to the Muslim-Muslim ticket as his primary reason for joining the LP. He noted, "Tinubu has shocked me in just one year in office about the Muslim-Muslim ticket which I vehemently opposed. I have now seen that it means nothing."

He praised Tinubu's administration for its equity and fairness, emphasizing that more Christian northerners and other Muslim ethnic nationalities have been empowered under Tinubu's leadership. "No president has ever worked with the middle belt like President Bola Tinubu," Balami remarked, pointing to the administration's efforts in appointing credible Nigerians and focusing on equity.

Balami expressed his renewed confidence in the APC and its current leadership. "I now see a better party and a better government. I can see a Nigeria that in a few years will thrive, and I think it is only important for us to work with APC in its effort to rescue this country," he said.

After extensive consultations with leaders across Nigeria, the middle-belt caucus, and his family, Balami decided to resign from the Labour Party and rejoin the APC. He expressed satisfaction with the inclusiveness under the current administration, noting that he initially joined the LP to sacrifice for the good of the country and the thousands of youths who believed in him.
