The Deputy Governor of Kano state, Professor Hafiz Abubakar has tendered his resignation's letter, the Deputy Governor made this know in a letter he addressed to his boss; Abdullahi Ganduje on Sunday.



His resignation comes a day after 30 members of the Kano state house of assembly signed an impeachment notice against him.

In the letter, Abubakar claims that his resignation was necessitated due to the disrespect of his office and unjust treatment by the governor. Last week, the Deputy Governor had petitioned the police over threat to his life and plans by the state government to stage a rally against him.

In the resignation's letter, the Deputy Governor writes that “I have endured immeasurable and unjustifiable humiliation for over two and a half years without any reason other than my principled position on the issues of governance and the desire to keep the government on track. “Under the circumstances and given the deteriorating state of affairs and your continued disrespect for the office of the deputy governor as well as your expression of several injustices on my person. I regret to say that I have no option than to succumb to my inner calling,”.

Abubakar in his resignation letter said he had desired to remain in office until the end of their tenure, but chose to resign due to irreconcilable differences with the governor.

However, reports have it that Abubakar may be contesting for the state gubernatorial election with the supports of his godfather Rabiu Kwakwanso who defected to PDP of recent.
