Emmanuel Petit, a former midfielder for Arsenal, has assessed the team's chances of winning the Premier League this year.
After six rounds of games, Mikel Arteta's team is leading the league standings.
The Arsenal are off to a strong start this season after spending well over £100 million on new players last summer, including Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Fabio Vieira.
Petit noted that his former club are showing more character than in years gone by, but wants them to start winning against big teams also.
“Right now, Arsenal are first in the league, so I would say they are genuine title contenders,” the former Gunners midfielder told Lord Ping.
“They have improved over the last few seasons, but they still need to improve against the top teams. They need to learn to convincingly beat top teams.
“We’re seeing things in this Arsenal squad that we haven’t seen before, so for them to be able to beat the best teams in the division is the last stop for Arsenal.”
