Eric Chelle has officially parted ways with Algerian club Moloudia Oran, leaving behind an emotional message of gratitude and reflection.
The 47-year-old tactician is set to embark on a new chapter as head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, according to Naijacrawl.
Chelle, who joined MC Oran in October 2024, led the team in seven matches, securing two victories, one draw, and four losses. His final game was a memorable 1-0 victory over ES Setif in the Algerian Cup on Saturday, a fitting conclusion to his brief but impactful tenure.
The former RC Lens player’s contract included a clause allowing him to transition to a national team, paving the way for his appointment as Super Eagles head coach earlier this week.
Taking to Instagram, the ex-Mali international shared his heartfelt farewell to the club, its supporters, and the Algerian people:
“After a wonderful journey with MC Oran, I announce the end of my time with the club. This was not an easy decision, but it was made with mutual respect and for the good of all parties.
I wish you all the best and will continue to follow MCO with affection. Oran and the Mouloudia will always have a special place in my heart.
Thank you to the supporters for your passion, energy, and unconditional love for this legendary club. A huge thanks to my agent for his professionalism and support throughout. To the Algerian people, who welcomed me with warmth and generosity, I carry with me unforgettable memories and countless good moments."
Chelle’s appointment as Super Eagles head coach comes with high expectations. He is set to be unveiled by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Monday in Abuja. His first task will be leading Nigeria at the 2024 African Nations Championship, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
With a proven record of professionalism and adaptability, Chelle’s journey with Nigeria promises to be an exciting chapter for the Super Eagles. Fans are eager to see how he will shape the team’s future.
Stay tuned for updates on Chelle’s debut and Nigeria’s road to championship success!
